1 block tofu, pressed
2 green onions, sliced thinly
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon red chili flakes
2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup water
(optional) dash of shaoxing cooking wine
Slice the pressed tofu into 1/4-inch squares. Pan-fry the slices until golden on both sides.
In a small bowl, mix all the other ingredients together into a sauce.
Once the tofu has all been fried, arrange all the slices in the pan into one layer (some overlapping is fine in a small pan).
Pour the sauce over the whole pan, making sure all the tofu pieces are covered.
Simmer the tofu in the sauce, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until the sauce has mostly absorbed into the tofu and it's a little sticky.
